Gautam works with a talented team of specialists to shape and advance UNICEF’s global initiatives related to climate change, sustainable energy and the environment. This involves developing programmes and policies, providing guidance to country and regional offices, developing strategic partnerships (both public and private), and representing UNICEF at the United Nations and other fora.
Gautam’s academic background includes Bachelors degrees in Chemical Engineering and Public Policy, a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering, and an MBA. His professional background includes water treatment, air pollution control and waste management in the US and India, managing a global portfolio of climate change-related products and services for an energy company and supporting the governments of Afghanistan and the Republic of Georgia in developing energy policies and programmes, with a focus on the transition to clean energy.
